Fraser Stryker welcomes 1L Summer Associate Class to the Firm: William Kathrein, Thomas ‘Chase’ Murphy, and Karsen Sims.

 
 

The Fraser Stryker Summer Associate program is designed to provide law students with exposure to diverse, substantive legal areas, as well as the individual practice styles of various attorneys. Fraser Stryker provides our Summer Associates with real-world experience, feedback, mentoring, and time devoted to community involvement.

William Kathrein

William Kathrein is currently attending the Creighton University School of Law with a graduation date of May 2023. Will is a Student Bar Association 1L Representative and has received a Dean’s Academic Scholarship.

Prior to attending the Creighton University School of Law, Will graduated from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Philosophy and Business.  While at Rockhurst University, Will was on the men’s basketball team, was an Academic All-American, and was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and the Rockhurst Green Club.  Will also served as a head coach for the Westside Warriors 8th grade boys club in 2017-2019 and has been a Court Appointed Special Advocate for CASA.

Thomas ‘Chase’ Murphy

Thomas ‘Chase’ Murphy is currently attending the Creighton University School of Law with a graduation date of May 2023. Prior to attending the Creighton University School of Law, Chase graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies, with a concentration on English, Business, and Creative Writing.

After graduating with his undergraduate degree, Chase spent close to two years in Shanghai, China, where he worked as a High School Honors English Literature Teacher for the Xiwai International Boarding School. While there, he volunteered in local neighborhoods, teaching English and Western Culture.  Chase is Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) I and II certified, which is the Chinese standardized test for language proficiency.

Karsen Sims

Karsen Sims is currently attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law with a graduation date of May 2023. Karsen has an interest in public work and serving others, and was nominated as the class representative for the Pro Bono Committee at the College of Law.

Karsen graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kapp from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Legal Studies, Anthropology, and Political Science. She has had extensive volunteer experience, including tutoring at the Refugee Mentor Program, serving as Project Leader for the Volunteer Action Committee, and volunteer for the Global Greek Program. Additionally, Karsen worked at Legal Aid of Arkansas in several roles, including being a key contributor to secure over $2 million in federal grants to aid the opioid crisis.
