The Fraser Stryker Summer Associate program is structured to give summer associates a realistic experience, which is comparable to that of a first-year attorney. To cultivate legal knowledge and explore interests, we expose our summer associates to a variety of diverse practice areas while they collaborate with our seasoned attorneys.
Participating in the Firm’s day-to-day business operations helps our summer associates develop their legal proficiency. The Program’s goal is to provide a mixture of challenging, investigative and practical work assignments. Summer associates are also given the opportunity to attend depositions, hearings, trials, negotiations, and arbitrations. And because we understand how crucial client interaction is for summer associate development, we involve our summer associates with client meetings, conferences, and other client-related events.
Each summer associate is assigned mentors to help facilitate both professional and social integration into the Firm. Program mentors provide summer associates with guidance on assigned projects and offer ongoing constructive feedback to help improve their skills. Summer associates are given a mid-summer and final evaluation to provide formal feedback from their Program mentors.
Fraser Stryker has developed a corporate culture of continuous learning, which is why our attorneys take an active interest in promoting the professional development of our summer associates. We encourage summer associates to proactively pursue feedback from our attorneys throughout their time at the Firm.
We know that a job is about much more than the work, it’s also about the people you work with each day. For summer associates, getting to know our attorneys provides a broader sense of Fraser Stryker’s culture and work environment. We host a range of social events for summer associates to get to know each other and our attorneys on a personal level. We have signature events, like our tailgate at the College World Series, and many impromptu events, such as lunches and happy hours.
As stated on our Community Service page, giving back to our community is ingrained in the culture at Fraser Stryker. Besides the pro bono work opportunities provided to summer associates, we organize numerous tours to introduce summer associates to some of our nonprofit clients, such as the Nebraska Humane Society, and Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo. To truly experience the power of community service, every summer a team of partners, associates, and summer associates devote time to volunteering at a local nonprofit, including Habitat for Humanity and Food Bank for the Heartland.
The Summer Associate Program has become an essential part of the recruiting efforts at Fraser Stryker. As a result, most Fraser Stryker attorneys have previously worked as summer associates for the Firm.
We invite you to explore an opportunity to participate in our Summer Associate Program. Interested first- and second-year law students should submit a cover letter, resume, law school transcripts, and writing sample to:
