Meghan Bothe focuses her practice on state and federal court litigation, with a particular emphasis in the areas of commercial litigation, class action defense, labor and employment, and appellate practice. Across those areas, she is drawn to the same challenge: helping clients make sound decisions when the legal issues are complex, the stakes are high, and the path forward is not always obvious.
Her interest in the law began long before she understood what a legal career might look like. In a 1995 elementary school journal entry, Meghan wrote that she wanted to become a lawyer like her father and great-uncle, two people she admired because they worked hard but still made time for the people and experiences they valued. Her mother later framed the page, complete with its perforated edge, uneven cursive, and childhood spelling. It hung in her father’s office for years and now hangs in Meghan’s own office, a personal reminder of where her career began.
Some of the highlights of Meghan’s practice have been arguing cases before the Nebraska Court of Appeals, the Nebraska Supreme Court, and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Yet the most rewarding moments are often more personal: helping a client through a difficult matter and being able to say that the work produced a meaningful result. For Meghan, excellent advocacy is not only about the legal outcome. It is also about giving clients clarity, confidence, and a trusted partner throughout the process.
Mentorship has strongly shaped that approach. While at Creighton University School of Law, the Director of the Milton R. Abrahams Legal Clinic deepened Meghan’s commitment to service and purposeful advocacy. Early in Meghan’s career at Douglas County, her supervisor trusted her with substantive work and included her in every stage of the cases they handled together. Their examples continue to influence how she mentors younger attorneys: by offering meaningful opportunities, direct guidance, and room to build professional confidence.
That commitment to investing in others also extends beyond her practice. Over the years, Meghan has supported organizations including Habitat for Humanity, the Junior League of Omaha, Memories for Kids, Heart Ministry Center, and CASA. She sees community service and mentorship as connected. Both depend on a willingness to share time, skills, and practical support in ways that help others move forward.
Outside the office, Meghan can often be found at the Village Grinder in Countryside Village with a café au lait. As a Duchesne alumna, she especially enjoys spotting a Duchesne ring on students working behind the counter. It is a small connection to a community she values and a fitting reflection of what runs throughout her career: relationships, service, and the importance of investing in the people around her.
