William C. (“W.C.”) Fraser, a graduate of Creighton Law College, became a partner in the firm in 1917, and was very active in civic affairs. While president of the Omaha Chamber of Commerce in 1917 he helped to bring the bomber plant that later became Offutt Air Force Base to Fort Crook in Bellevue. In 1948 he was instrumental in retaining the base as the home for the Strategic Air Command. Fraser and the firm worked with Nebraska legislators to establish Nebraska as the first all-public power state, laying the groundwork for Fraser Stryker’s long-standing relationship with the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD). His efforts helped convince Western Electric and the Falstaff Brewery to locate in Omaha. Dedicated to helping others, Fraser helped with the launch of the first charity drive for Father Flanagan’s Boys Home and remained very involved in the Boy Scouts of America until his death.
W.C.’s son Robert Fraser joined the firm in 1939 after graduating from Creighton Law School. After serving in Europe during World War II, Robert returned to practice and was appointed the first chairman of the Omaha Airport Commission, where he battled corruption and misuse of funds. Like his father, Robert was deeply involved in charitable organizations, including the American Red Cross and the United Way.
Hird Stryker, Sr., joined the firm in 1921 after earning his law degree from the University of Chicago. He served as a captain in the field in France in World War I, and was one of the founding fathers of the American Legion. His primary client was Peter Kiewit Son’s, a relationship he built that still continues today with Kiewit Corporation.
Hird Stryker, Jr., joined the team soon after his graduation from law school at the University of Michigan in 1947. Like his father, he served his country in World War II. When he returned to Omaha, he focused on two of the firm’s largest clients: OPPD and Kiewit. He also became active with the United Way of the Midlands.
