Across the United States, legal professionals & law firms have recognized a significant need to promote and encourage diversity within the legal field. These professionals recognize that a diverse and inclusive workplace can foster a variety of beneficial viewpoints and enhance employee productivity.

Fraser Stryker believes that in order to advance diversity within the legal field, educational opportunities need to be provided to all students. This is why the Fraser Stryker Diversity Scholarship was founded in 2007. Open to Omaha metro high school seniors, the Fraser Stryker Diversity Scholarship provides two $2,500 annual scholarships to talented students from diverse backgrounds who have a financial need to fulfill their dream of working in the legal field.

13 Years of Elevating Diversity

“For the Fraser Stryker team, it has not only been an honor, but a privilege to offer the Diversity Scholarship to graduating Omaha seniors over the last 13 years.” said Stephen M. Bruckner, Fraser Stryker Diversity Scholarship Committee member.  Some of the milestones achieved since the Diversity Scholarship program began include:

  • 25 total scholarship recipients
  • Almost $175,000 in scholarship dollars awarded
  • 46 internship months worked, with five individuals going on to become part-time runners

We enjoy watching scholarship recipients grow their knowledge and leadership skills. Several Diversity Scholars have gone on to graduate from law school and are now practicing law in Omaha and elsewhere. Other successful scholarship recipients include Symone Sanders, political strategist with experience working on two major presidential campaigns, and Aya Yousuf, the 2019/2020 UNO Student Body President.
